South Africa 2015 VLOG - The flight

Hey guys, today I just want you to check out my first vlog ever! It's the first vlog of my South Africa vlog series that I will be uploading for the next few weeks as I have tons of footage that I still need to edit. This first vlog is all about my flights as we had 2 changes (Amsterdam and Nairobi) to get to Johannesburg and I managed to squeeze 12hours+ of flights into a 12minute video. The next vlog is going to be much more exciting as you will be able to see what my hubby and I actually got up to on our first week in Joburg.
I have also decided that I will be posting a new blog post every day for the next few weeks as I have so much to share with you guys, so I hope you'll stick around.

Stationery Haul

Hey guys, I wanted to upload this post on Friday, but I actually didn't have any internet until yesterday evening.

Anyway, in today's post I just want to share all the cute notebooks and stationery I got for my second year of Uni. In case you're wondering I actually didn't start Uni until the begging of this week which is why I'm only doing this post now. I know all of my Latvian readers started school around 1st September and my UK readers started school around 7th September or so, but as a Uni student I was lucky to only start on the 28th September.

All the notebooks are by the brand Typo which my hubby ordered for me from Cotton:on Australia which I deeply regret, because he had to pay £20 delivery and then once it arrived he had to pay £27 on customs which is crazy money just for delivery. However, the worst part is that I ordered these before we went to South Africa and when we were exploring the malls there, I realised that I could've got most of the stuff I ordered, if not all of it in South Africa and pay nothing for delivery, because they have a Typo store in every mall. However, I absolutely love the stuff I got and I'm very happy with it. As you can see I went for a very girly, pastel theme and I kind of tried to have this little city theme asvwell.

I found Cotton:on through Pintrest where I stumbled upon a picture of these Eiffel tower scissors and I just had to get them. Also, looking through the stationery Typo offers, I have to say they are by far the best stationery company ever. Their stuff is just so cute, unique, and trendy at the same time. I just love everything they sell.

This is the biggest notebook, meaning that it has the most pages and it has 4 subjects which are divided by little card dividers that have a little pocket where you can put all your lose papers in, which I love.

I just had to get two of these notebooks, they are just so cute.

I definitely recommend Typo for school supplies. They don't just do all this girly stuff, they do all kinds of stationery which fits different tastes and they are constantly updating their product selection which I think is amazing. They are not an expensive brand either, however I do not recommend ordering online unless you want to pay unnecessary money for delivery. Americans and Australians are very lucky to have their stores all over, but I do hope that they will bring at least one store to the UK so more people can enjoy their brand.

I'm doing 4 subjects this year - Online retailing, Fashion branding and communications, Fashion buying and merchandising, and Leading innovation and entrepreneurship which is why I need 4 binders. I love organising all my handouts and lecture slide printouts in binders. I fell in love with it when I was studying Communication and culture as one of my A levels and our teacher made us really organise our binders as she did regular binder checks. The one with the floral print is from Tesco and all the other three are actually from last year and I got them from Wilko. I didn't use these binders last year so I thought there's no point for me to buy new ones and they actually fit very well with my girly pastel theme.

Now onto the little bits and bobs I got. The Sharpie's are from WHSmith and I got these because I want to be more creative this year and do more DIY's. The colourful PaperMate InkJoy pens, Pilot erasable pastel highlighters, Stablo highlighters and Stabilo point 88 pens are from Amazon. The black PaperMate pens, Bic pencils, Crayola coloured pencils and For BIG Mistakes rubber are from Wilko. The glitter pencils are from Poundworld and the PaperMate mechanical pencils are from Tesco.

The pink bendy ruler is from Tesco, as well as the Post it notes, Pritt stick and Glittler sticky tape. The staples, Maped rubber, mini stapler and Fairy wand pen are from Wilko.

I love these, because they will really help me to stay organised, especially when I'm studying from the course books.

The index card holder is from Wilko and the Post it notes are from Tesco.

I stocked up on some index cards from Wilko, because they really help me to study as I'm a visual learner. Last year I made my own index cards, but it took me forever to make them as I'm a perfectionist, but they helped me so much which is why I bought them this year. I got the little organiser from Wilko at the end of last year, so I only used about 3 pages of it, so I will be using it this year as well. The ruler and pink lid pencil sharpener are also from Wilko and the Snail pencil sharpeners are from Poundland.

Now.. can we just appreciate how beautiful this pencil case is? It's soooooo gorgeous. I'm in love. Yes, I got two pencil cases this year and I still have one which is almost brand new from last year which is also super cute as it's pink and glittery (I forgot to take a picture, but I have one on my Instagram from ages ago). I don't think anyone really needs 3 pencil cases, but I'll probaby use the one from Typo as a little essential bag where I put my hand sanitizer, contact lenses case, tampons etc. etc. just so it's not all over my bag. The pencil case is from WHSmith by the way.

Lastly, I got a little card holder for my Oyster and student card, because I really wanted one ever since I started Uni and I also got this contact lense kit which I think is super cute and I love it. I used to have these really boring cases that were just given to me by my optician, but last time they were stingy and didn't give me any and I throw them away all the time, so I had to buy a case as I won't see my optician for the next 3 months. I ordered both from Ebay. I also finally got my NUS card for the student discounts, because as you can probably tell by now, I love buying new things.

You're probably thinking that I don't need this much stationery and you're right, because even I think I don't need this much stationery, but I have this weird obsession with it. I don't know why, but for some reason stationery just makes me happy. However, I will try to justify it by saying that I am planning on using all this stuff till I graduate not just for this year of Uni and a lot of the things I bought were also bought with an intention to be a little more creative this year. I really want to get back into art, because I used to love drawing, but in the past 2 years I never really found time for it, but I'm pretty motivated to do so now.

I know this was a really long post, but I do hope you enjoyed it as I love writing them for you.

Grafea Bianca Leather Backpack

Hey guys, I'm back with another post..

I've finally started Uni this week which I'm actually really excited about. The main reason for my excitement is the fact that I've bought some amazing stationery and other bits and bobs to help me stay motivated for Uni throughout the year.
The other day I received my Grafea Hari Collection Bianca leather backpack which I will be using as my Uni bag this year. It is real leather, so it is amazing quality and will last me for years which is actually why I wanted this particular backpack. I intend to use it as my main Uni bag till I graduate, as well as for travelling. Initially I was going to buy this backpack in lavender, as I wanted to stand out in the crowd with it, and also because most of the stationery I have bought for this year is quite girly and I wanted it to match. I ended up purchasing the white one, because I feel like I would most likely grow out of this girly stage and knowing that this bag will last me for years made me think past Uni. I feel like the fact that it's white still makes it stand out, but it would go with everything in my wardrobe, and it just looks more classy and more suitable for my age and the style I practice.
I expected it to be bigger, because in pictures it looks like it would fit an A4 folder in it, but unfortunately it doesn't. Aside from that I think it's a good size backpack. I love the fact that it has various pockets (2 side pockets, 1 front pocket and 1 hidden pocket at the back) and I love how much detailing it has due to the buckles, as well as the incredible stitching. I also quite enjoy the fact that this bag was made in England and it's 100% biodegradable.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with it and wouldn't mind having this backpack in various colours, because the colours they come in are absolutely gorgeous.
I hope you liked this post. If you have any questions, please leave a comment down below and stay tuned for my next post in which I'll show you all the amazing stationery I got.

South Africa 2015

Hey, and welcome to my new blog!
I've tried this blogging thing a few times before, but I never really stuck to it. However, this time I'm extremely motivated to keep up with my new blog as I have some really exciting content that I'd like to share.
During September I went to South Africa for the first time and I absolutely loved it! The reason why I went was to see whether I'd like to live there in the future as my husband to be owns an apartment there. We went for 23 days and I had the time of my life. The food was incredible. The people were absolutely lovely, so confident and positive; they inspired and changed my perspective of life tremendously. The scenery was incredible. I honestly can't wait to go back.

Steers: they had the best burgers and chips, tasted even better once reheated, like what?

Our apartment building

News café: the best place to have some cocktails, I tried almost all of their originals, the one above is Bubblegum Daiquiri
